Children’s Liturgy

The Liturgy of the Word for Children is held at the 9am Mass on Sundays during term time. It allows younger children, those aged 4 to 7 years who have not started first holy communion preparation but are old enough to participate fully in the session, to have their own version of liturgy of the Word, while the main liturgy continues in church.

The Liturgy is run by a group of catechists, comprises child-friendly singing or role playing to animate the Gospel readings, alongside craft activities. We always welcome new catechists and full training and support are provided.

Recognising the importance of providing comfort, solace, and spiritual support during times of illness, our parish priest is committed to bringing healing to those in need

When illness strikes, it can often leave individuals feeling isolated and alone. As a parish, led by Fr Riq, we are committed to supporting members of our parish who find themselves housebound or hospitalised either through illness or old age. Fr Rick through his pastoral visits offers a comforting presence, a listening ear and spiritual support.

Fr Riq is supported in this ministry to the sick or housebound by members of the parish community, who are able to make regular visits to the housebound and take Holy Communion to the sick in their homes. If you require:

a pastoral visit, please contact the St Vincent de Paul Society who will arrange a visit to your home;

if you are housebound and would like to receive Holy Communion, please contact Mark Hockly (you are also able to access Mass online through the parish website);

if you are going into hospital or are hospitalised in an emergency, please contact Katherine Edwards, who will arrange a time to bring you communion and, if desired, arrange for Fr Riq to celebrate the Sacrament of the Sick with you.

Working with our community for our community

Social Groups

Within our community and Parish we have a number of clubs and groups running to help parishioners connect and engage with other members. These initiatives cater to a wide spectrum of interests.

Within our Parish

We are committed to providing support and growth for parish and community members through collaborative efforts with both local and national organisations.

Outside Agencies

Through social action initiatives, churches have the potential to make a significant impact on some of the most pressing issues facing our society today. Poverty, homelessness, hunger, and discrimination are complex issues that require collaborative efforts and long-term solutions.

Schools

With a strong commitment to Catholic values and teachings, parish schools offer a safe and nurturing environment where students can develop a strong sense of faith, morality, and character. Our local Primary school is St Teresa's and our local college is St Benedict's.

Bereavement Support

Bereavement support is an important aspects of the role that churches play in supporting individuals and families during times of loss. When someone experiences the death of a loved one, they may feel overwhelmed, confused, and isolated. Bereavement support services offered by churches can provide a safe and compassionate space for individuals to process their grief, share their experiences, and receive support.
