CAFOD

Scouts logo

CAFOD is the Catholic Agency for Overseas development, the official international and relief agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales. It works to bring about lasting and positive change in the lives of some of the world’s most disadvantaged people.

CAFOD is continually supported in the parish with collection buckets at he back of each church which are regularly emptied and donated to the charity. The people of the parish respond generously in collections at Mass to CAFOD special appeals in times of disaster when emergency aid is needed.

Colchester Soup Run

The Colchester Soup run have volunteers from several churches in the area. We provide sandwiches and hot drinks, soup, tea and coffee together with fruit and treats of chocolate and crisps every night of the year. The visitors know that we are all Christians and often ask for our prayers. They also ask for prayers for their families.

Calais Light

Calais light is an organisation that helps refugees and supports other refugee NGO’s.

Social Inclusion is essential in order for refugees to adjust to a new life here. A sense of belonging & feeling accepted is crucial for any human to thrive – and we are ALL human. This is what Calais Light is all about. We believe we can best help refugees by promoting social inclusion.

We recruit volunteers to work in community projects, including English language teaching and more. UK volunteers support refugees living in temporary accommodation, lending a helping hand to those who have survived the journey here – integration is a two-way street.

Working with our community for our community

Social Groups

Within our community and Parish we have a number of clubs and groups running to help parishioners connect and engage with other members. These initiatives cater to a wide spectrum of interests.

Within our Parish

We are committed to providing support and growth for parish and community members through collaborative efforts with both local and national organisations.

Outside Agencies

Through social action initiatives, churches have the potential to make a significant impact on some of the most pressing issues facing our society today. Poverty, homelessness, hunger, and discrimination are complex issues that require collaborative efforts and long-term solutions.

Schools

With a strong commitment to Catholic values and teachings, parish schools offer a safe and nurturing environment where students can develop a strong sense of faith, morality, and character. Our local Primary school is St Teresa's and our local college is St Benedict's.

Bereavement Support

Bereavement support is an important aspects of the role that churches play in supporting individuals and families during times of loss. When someone experiences the death of a loved one, they may feel overwhelmed, confused, and isolated. Bereavement support services offered by churches can provide a safe and compassionate space for individuals to process their grief, share their experiences, and receive support.
